John Hawkins

In the 1850 United States census John Hawkins, his wife Mary McKee Hawkins and their children were living in Cleveland, Ohio. An article in the Frontier Guardian newspsper (Kanesville, Iowa), 30 May 1851 reported that a group of Latter-day Saints from Cleveland had just arrived; John Hawkins was one of its leaders. Church ordinance records prove that John and his wife were in Salt Lake City by late October of the same year.
