John Henry Crombie
Evidence from newspaper records proves that John traveled to Utah in 1851. He does not appear on the 1850 Utah census. The first documentation to place him in Utah is an ad he placed in the Deseret News 17 April 1852 which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. He was wanting to purchase 500 chickens. John also purchased land in Salt Lake City 13 September 1853. Apparently, he moved to California where he appears on the 1860 and 1870 census. Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company he came to Utah with.
