John Jesson
John sailed to America in 1868 on the ship Colorado. No other family members accompanied him to Utah. The ship manifest shows his age as 59, but he would have been 62 at the time he crossed the ocean because he not yet had his birthday.
His rebaptism in Salt Lake City on 17 October 1869 is the first documentation to place him in Utah, but there were many pioneers who were on the ship Colorado that arrived in Utah in 1868, so we are confident that he was among those individuals. However, further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company with which he traveled to Utah.
John's birth and death dates are confirmed by his obituary. The Early Church Information File also confirms his birth date and the date of his baptism.
