John President Porter, Jr.

The Porter family traveled to the Salt Lake Valley with the Charles C. Rich Company in 1847.  Their family included John President and Nancy Rich, and their children Joseph Rich, Sanford Colson, and John President, Jr., who was born en route at the Sweetwater River.

John President’s parents, Sanford and Nancy Warriner, and his siblings Nathan Tanner, Nancy Areta and family, and Lyman Wight were also in the company.

Sarah Rich's autobiography confirms the date of his birth. His death certificate confirms his death date.
