John Thomas Owen

John Thomas Coon arrived in Salt Lake by 1868.  He married Patience Minnie Coons between 1865 and 1868 in Utah, as she came to Utah as a single woman in 1865.  Their first child was born in August 1868 in Juab County.  Further research is needed to determine the year John Thomas arrived in Utah and the name of the company he traveled with. 

The inscription on his gravestone and his death certificate confirm John's year of birth.
