John Torbjorn Olsen

The 1900 and 1910 census indicate that he came to the United States in 1859 or 1860. His obituary states that he lived in New York for "several years." The first documentation to place him in Utah is his marriage in 1864. His obituary also says that he had lived in Salt Lake City for 50 years at the time of his death. That would have put his first arrival in Valley at 1864. Further research is needed to identify the name of the company he traveled in.

His birth date is confirmed by Seventeenth Ward records at the time of a rebaptism on 7 November 1867.
