Joseph Sharp (1830 - 1864) Profile

Joseph Sharp

He initially emigrated to the Valley with his parents and siblings in 1850, but several years later, he captained his own freight company. He died en route at Willow Springs and was buried near the Sweetwater, then after arriving in Salt Lake, "a tinker from Salt Lake City came and wanted four men to go with them to the station to dig Sharp's body up and place him in a metal coffin." His body was returned to Utah.

He sailed to America in 1848 on the ship Erin's Queen.
