Missionary Activity Notes
Joseph S. Peery was a successful lawyer and businessman from Ogden. After his wife died in 1908, he felt prompted to complete her temple work. He received his own endowment on the same day. That first experience in the Salt Lake Temple was life-changing. He gave up opportunities in local business and politics and instead focused his life around the temple. He served 32 years as a guide on Temple Square, including 5 years as mission president and director of the Bureau of Information from 1932 to 1937.
