Joseph and his wife sailed to America in 1852 on the ship Kennebec.
Although Walton is listed as an individual on the roster of the Clawson company, he also is listed with his family on the roster of the Wheelock company. We have no documentation or explanation why his name appears on the rosters of both companies.
Birth date is confirmed at the time of a rebaptism in Millcreek Ward on 29 April 1855.
