Evidence from emigration, church (Perpetual Emigrating Fund) records and immigration records prove that the Foster family traveled to Utah in 1863.  They sailed to America in 1863 on the ship Antarctic and the ship manifest shows their surname as "Forster."   The index to the ship manifest shows Joseph as being 7 years old.  However, the orgiginal ship manifest show that he was only 3 years old.

Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company with which they traveled to Utah.
