Labored as a missionary in Pennsylvania, departing Dec. 1832. (Jour. His. of Dec. 1832.) Lorenzo Dow Young was born Oct. 19, 1807 in Smyrna, Chenango, New York, the son of John Young and Nabby Howe. He was baptized in 1832; came to Utah in 1847 as one of the original Pioneers, and died Nov. 21, 1895, in Salt Lake City, Utah. ( Jenson's MSS Bio.) (Des. News vol. 51:741.)

In order to carry out the missions for Utah Territory, as appointed by the General Conference it was resolved that the county of Davis compose the Fourth Missionary District and that P.P. Prat, O. Prat, W. Woodruff, Joseph Young, Z. Pulsipher, Henry Herriman, H.S. Eldridge, Lorenzo D.Young and Gilbert Clements be appointed the missionaries for that district.
