Evidence from emigration and church records proves the Kay family traveled to Utah in 1854. After sailing to America in 1854, Margaret Kay and her six oldest children received their patriarchal blessing in Utah in February 1855, proving that they had to have traveled to Utah in 1854. Some secondary sources infer that the family traveled with the 1854 Garn Company, but further research is needed to confirm that.
