She crossed the Atlantic in 1853 on the ship Jersey with her children.  They joined the 1853 overland wagon company led by Joseph W. Young, but by then she may have married a David Jones.  However, FamilySearch does not show their marriage.  On the original roster of the Young company are the following names all listed one right after the other:

David Jones, age 35, Margaret Jones, age 45; Richard Thomas, age 16; Blanch Thomas, age 10; Catherine Thomas, age 8.

This grouping suggests that they were traveling together as a family.

“Margaret Jones” was re-baptized on 12 January 1854 at Salt Lake by William Lewis.  The re-baptism record shows that she was born in August 1807 at Merthyr, Glamorganshire, South Wales.  Richard, Blanch and Catherine Thomas were all re-baptized on 12 June 1854 and were born at the same place in South Wales.  Blanch was confirmed by William Lewis same as her mother.

Mary crossed the plains with Thomas and Ann Thomas.  Thomas Thomas and Mary Thomas were both re-baptized on 23 October 1853 at Salt Lake City.  In the re-baptism record Mary’s siblings are listed immediately following the names of Thomas and Mary.
