Came with her mother Ellen Carver Broughton.On the 1867 ship "Manhattan" her name is "Margaret Broughton". Her death certificate has her name as "Margaret Broughton Bryan" but her head stone has her name as "Margaret Simpson Bryan".

Birth date is confirmed by Sugarhouse Ward records at the time of a rebaptism on 1 April 1868.
