Johannes and his family (Karen, Marie, and Johanne) traveled to the United States aboard the ship Monarch of the Sea. However, the ship manifest found in the collection "New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957," on Ancestry.com states that Johannes's daughter Johanne died aboard the ship on 25 May 1864. This information conflicts with data given on Family Tree at FamilySearch.org that Marie died instead of Johanne. At this time, we will rely on the information given in the ship and company manifest records.
