Martha Jane Taylor (1828 - 1908) Profile

Martha Jane Taylor

Joined the Church in England and traveled to the United States on the Windermere with her mother, Sarah Taylor, and a few of her siblings: James, Samuel, and William. This was confirmed using the ship manifest. Some sources suggest that Samuel died at sea. More information is required to confirm his death.

Several of her other siblings followed later and one a different ship: John, Edwin, and possibly Elizabeth. One source claims Elizabeth died at sea. Another indicates that she died in England after the birth of one of her children. More research is required to reconcile this part of the family story.

Some sources suggest that the family may may have traveled to Utah with the Daniel Garn Company. Another source suggests that they traveled with the Jedediah Grant Company. More research is required to confirm with which company they were associated.

Martha married Elam Cheney in Salt Lake City in 1855.
