Martha Thorpe
Evidence from emigration and genealogical records proves that Martha Thorpe traveled to with her brother John Utah in 1857. They sailed to America in 1857 on the ship George Washington, and Martha was listed on the ship manifest as a single woman. She married John Cutler in Salt Lake City in 1857 and had a child in June 1858, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to determine the name of the company she and her brother traveled to Utah with.
John Cutler traveled with the 1857 Jesse B. Martin Company, and Martha Thorpe and John Horatio Thorpe may have been in the same pioneer company. The Martin company arrive in Salt Lake City 12 September 1857, and John Cutler and Martha Thorpe were married 9 October 1857. A "primary" source is needed to confirm this information.
Martha's birth and death dates are confirmed by the inscription on her gravestone in New Mexico with the name of "Martha Thorpe Cutler Green."
Martha is in the 1870 New Mexico census with her husband John Green.
