Mary Ann Askew

Mary Ann traveled with George Askew. They crossed the ocean by way of the ship General McClellan.  She was a twenty-eight year old spinster; George was age five. Mary Ann financed the journey with money from the Perpetual Emigrating Fund.  In Utah she married Martin Wardell and both she and George appear in the 1870 Utah census under this surname living in South Cottonwood (part of modern Salt Lake City.)
