Mary Ann Harris

At different times in her early life Mary Ann used the surnames "Harris" (her mother's maiden name,) "Collits" and "Cox" because her mother married men with these names.  Mary Ann crossed the Atlantic on the ship Golconda in 1853 under the name Ann Collitts.  On the original roster of the Wheelock Company she is Mary A. Harris.  She married James John Walker at Salt Lake City in November 1853.  They had met while crossing the plains.
