Mary Ann Gaskell

We have not been able to determine the year of Mary Ann's arrival in America, although based on the places and dates of birth of her children from her second marriage, she likely emigrated to the U.S. with her son Edward G. Davis between 1839 and 1841. The first documentation to place her in Utah is her divorce from Perry Durfee on 21 May 1861, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration.  We do not know the date of their marriage, and her name does not appear on the 1860 Utah census.

The 1850 Rhode Island census shows her name as "Mary A. Law," and she is with her husband Gibson.

The inscription on her gravestone shows her name as "Maryann Law," and it confirms her birth and death dates.
