Mary Elizabeth Wardrop

Birth date confirmed by Millcreek Ward records at the the time of a rebaptism on 9 November 1856. Mary married Thomas Chappell on 18 June 1854 so she must have come to the valley some time before then. Her young children (Sarah Ann and George Washington Phelps) are found in the Millcreek records as well, so she likely had them with her at the time of travel. Further research is needed to narrow the year of travel and identify the company they traveled with.

She left the valley at some point with some of her children and is seen in the Iowa census in 1880 under the married name of Gavit.
