Mary Jane Smith
In a letter that her step-father, Philo Dibble, wrote to Brigham Young in June of 1850, he indicates that he had already sent Mary Jane on to the Valley in the care of Solon Foster. Foster is documented in the 1850 Edward Company. She is documented in the Valley at the time of her marriage in Salt Lake on 5 April 1851 to Philemon Christopher Merrill. The 1850 Utah census show her with the surname of "Merrill."
The family's travel to Utah in 1850 is confirmed by the Kane County Standard article.
