Mary Tabitha York
Mary was included on the company roster found in the Journal History. Her biographical sketch, written during her lifetime indicates that she drove an ox team all the way and part of the way drove five cows along with the oxen. Her mother died in Nauvoo and father never joined the Church so it seems she was traveling without family. It also notes that she was the first "white woman to move out [illegible] West part of mountain." After her arrival to Utah, she married John Coon in 1854.
