Evidence from census and church ordinance records proves that the Vanderhoof family traveled to Utah between 1851 and 1856. They appear on the 1851 Michigan census, which was taken 20 Aug. 1850. The first documentation to place them in Utah is a church ordinance performed 20 Mar. 1857, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to determine the year they came to Utah and the name of the pioneer company with which they traveled.  Maryette married John Quincy Knowlton.  Her death date is found on both her Utah death certificate and Salt Lake County, Utah Death Records database.  In the Utah Cemeteries and Burials database she is "Marguett Knowlton" buried next to her husband in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
