The Christoffersen family came to America in 1857 on the ship Tuscarora under the surname of "Christopherson." Peter and his son Andrew signed a Morrisite Oath in Utah in May 1862 and the family later moved to Idaho. Her name is listed as "Matthea" on the ship manifest, and as "Matica M. Christiansen" on the roster.
