Matthew and his wife, Ann, and his two step children arrived in Boston on 20 April 1857 via the ship George Washington. The family is first documented in the Valley when Ann, Annie and Michael were rebaptized in the Seventeenth ward on 6 January 1858, which was prior to that year's emigration season. So, they must have crossed the plains in 1857.
There is a "Father Gibbons" who traveled in the 1857 Jesse Martin Company. It is possible that Father Gibbons was actually Matthew Gibbons. If this can be documented, Matthew and his family could be moved to that company.
