She traveled with her parents and siblings with the Willie Company as far as Council Bluffs, where she dropped out. After marrying Jonathan Holbrook, she and her husband continued on to the Valley in 1859, as is confirmed in her obituary. Further research is needed to identify the name of the company they traveled with.
She sailed to America in 1856 on the ship Thornton with her father. The ship manifest incorrectly lists her given name as "Amelia."
