Son of James Peter and Mary Margaret Clawson. The Clawson family crossed the ocean together by way pf the ship Monarch of the Sea. Their surname is written as "Classon" in some sources, such as the ship passenger list. His father was included on the list of immigrants published in the Deseret News and was labeled as traveling with his family. Nicholas's birth date and death date are confirmed by his death certificate.
