Rachael Leah Smith
Rachael Leah Smith Ross Radford and her sons, James and Melvin came to Utah sometime between 1848 and 1850. A child was born in Iowa in June 1848, but the first evidence to place the family in Utah is the 1850 Utah census, which was taken in the Spring of 1851, prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Family tradition (as seen on Find a Grave) indicates that they traveled with the 1850 Aaron Johnson company. However, further research is needed to confirm that.
Her birth date is confirmed by the Provo 2nd Ward records at the time of a rebaptism on 22 September 1852.
