Evidence from emigration and church (Perpetual Emigrating Fund) records proves the Rasmus Andersen family traveled to Utah in 1863. He sailed to America in 1863 in the ship John J. Boyd with Ane Christine Nielsen, a spinster. They were married in Florence, Nebraska on 18 June 1863. The ship manifest shows his surname as "Andersen."
In some sources his surname is listed as "Anderson."
