With his wife Sarah and two children (Richard, age 12, and Ann, age 10) he  crossed the Atlantic in 1855 on the ship Juventa arriving in Philadelphia on 5 May.  According to the published roster of the Milo Andrus Company he crossed the plains with his wife and one child. (The Andrus roster was complied before the company's departure from Mormon Grove, Kansas on 4 August.)  Since the  son Richard was baptized at Goshen, Utah in 1857, he must have been the child that crossed the plains.  Daughter Ann must have died sometime between the family's arrival at Philadelphia and their departure from Mormon Grove.  Another daughter (Hannah) crossed the ocean on the ship International in 1853.  Family tradition says she died of Cholera on the Missouri River.  At the time of the 1856 Utah Territorial census Richard and his family were living in Pleasant Grove, Utah.  Richard's death date is from Utah State History Cemeteries and Burials Database.
