Rudolph Zuppinger
The list of passengers found in the Deseret News for this company lists a "Rudolph Winklu and family", which infers that he was traveling with his wife and at least one child. The ship passenger list records his name, his wife Anna, and a "Zuppinger Winkler" who was 7 years old. We believe this was actually Rudolph Zuppinger traveling with the Winkler family. The British Mission Record (as indexed in Mormon Migration) lists a "Zuppinger Rudolph" traveling with the Winkler family. Further research is needed to determine how they were related.
Rudolph Zuppinger was adopted by Elias and Lucy Smith shortly after arriving in the Valley. His birth date is confirmed by Salt Lake 17th Ward records at the time of a rebaptism on 6 September 1866.
