A missionary A. W van der Woude left for Utah June 1863 and left Samuel Mets, Rotterdam branch president, temporarily "in charge" of the Netherland branches of the Swiss, German, Italian Mission. There is no record of Samuel being set apart as a missionary, much less mission president. In fact, John L Smith, Pres of the Swiss, Italian, German Mission, visited Netherlands in Oct 1863. Joseph Weiler from Utah arrived Oct 1864 to be mission president of the new Netherlands Mission (Netherlands officially became a mission 1 Nov 1864.)
