Evidence from church records proves that Samuel traveled to Utah in 1851. He does not appear on the 1850 Utah census. The first documentation to place him in Utah is his rebaptism 31 December 1851 in the 19th Ward. Further research is needed to determine the name of the company he traveled with.
Birth date confirmed by West Jordan Ward records at the time of another rebaptism on 31 January 1858. That birth year is confirmed by various census records.
