Saphronia Cole
In some sources, including the 1850 census of Pottawattamie County Iowa and the record of her 26 September 1856 rebaptism at Centerville, Davis County, Utah this woman's given name is spelled Sophronia. In the census, taken on 21 September 1850, she appears at Sophronia Adams living with James Adams and the children of his first marriage to Betsy Leavitt who died at Council Bluffs, Iowa in December of 1848. A son named Joseph Henry Adams was born in Utah on 15 May 1857. Saphronia's Find A Grave memorial gives her name as Saphronia Cole Drake Adams. The obituary of her husband, James Adams, says he crossed the plains in 1851, other sources give the year as 1852. Additional research is needed to clarify the year the family traveled.
