Sarah Jerusha Merrell
Daughter of Hosea and Mary Ann Merrell.
Sarah Jerusha arrived in Utah sometime before May 1850. The first record to place her in Utah is her marriage to Jonathan Davies (Davis) on 1 May 1850 in Nephi, Utah.
It is unclear whether or not she traveled with her parents and siblings. She was married prior to union with Jonathan Davies. in 1847 she married Steven Coupe in New York. As such, she may have traveled under the last name "Coupe." Some family records available on Family Search and the 1860 Utah Census list her as "Jerusha" rather than as "Sarah." On another record (a death record for her daughter, Edna), her name is listed as "Sarah (Sally) Jerusha Merrell." Research under the names Sarah, Sally, and Jerusha may result in the discovery of more information.
More research is needed to determine when and how Sarah arrived to Utah.
