Sarah Porcher

Sarah came from England in 1859 on the ship William Tapscott.

Evidence from emigration and church ordinance records proves that Sarah traveled to Utah sometime between 1859 and 1861. She sailed to America in 1859, but the first documentation to place her in Utah is a church ordinance performed 19 April 1862, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to determine the year she came to Utah and the name of the company she traveled with. Her birth and death dates are confirmed by her death certificate and the inscription on her gravestone and her surname is "Houghton."
