Solomon was the nephew of Johnson and Emeline Langley and he traveled to Utah with them. His name is listed as "Solomon Langley" in the 1852 James Chauncey Snow Emigrating Company Journal. The Perpetual Emigrating Fund roster shows him as traveling with the Langley family and his name is listed there as "Solomon Jackson." His name is also shown as "Solomon Jackson" on the 1856 Utah Census. Apparently, he also used “Langley” as his surname.
