Evidence that Stephen and Mary Wells came to Utah in 1851 is based on their marriage in Kanesville in June 1851 and the birth of a child in Salt Lake City in May 1852, prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Both Stephen and Mary were re-baptized at Salt Lake City on 16 November 1851.
