Thomas Loynd
The England and Wales, Birth Registration Index, 1837-1920 gives a range for his birth from July-Sept. 1839. Thomas and his mother Alice are in the 1851 England census. Church ordinance records prove he was in Utah. 1865 affidavits included in a "Claim For Mother's Pension" indicate that he and his mother traveled to Utah Territory sometime during the 1850's. In 1862 Thomas engaged as a teamster traveling back to the States; there he joined Company A of the Iowa Volunteers and served in the Civil War until the following year when he died of disease at Little Rock, Arkansas.
