Thomas Wadsworth Parkinson, Sr.
The Parkinson family arrived in New Orleans on 7 June 1853 via the ship The Camillus. First documentation to place them in the Valley is the rebaptism of parents, Thomas and Elizabeth, in the 10th Ward on 12 November 1853.
It is likely they traveled with the John Brown Company. Many of their fellow passengers on The Camillus continued on with that overland company. Also, Pioneers and Prominent Men indicates that the family arrived in Utah on 17 October 1853, which was around the time that members of the John Brown Company arrived.
