William George Phillips
Evidence from census and genealogical records proves the Phillips family traveled to Utah in 1861. Maria was enumerated in June in Boston in the 1860 Census--too late to then get to the outfitting place to travel to Utah that year. William and Maria were married in May 1861 in Boston. Their first child was born in Feb. 1862 in Salt Lake. These two events prove that they could have only traveled to Utah in 1861.
