William James Watts
William arrived in New York on 23 June 1864 with his wife, Eleanor Ann (Annie) and children, Mary Jane and William Henry via the ship The General McClellan. His family is seen on the emigrant roster for the 1864 Warren company, but he is not. His obituary indicates that he "drove a team across the plains," arriving in Salt Lake City on 6 October 1864. This supports the likelihood that he hired out with the Sharp and Spencer Freight Train. This train hired several other emigrants to drive teams hauling goods across the plains to Salt Lake City that year and the train arrived in Salt Lake on 6 October.
