William Jones
William sailed to America in 1856 on the ship Wellfleet with his mother Maria Higgins Jones and brothers John and Thomas Jones. His wife, Mercy, came to America on the same ship and she and William were married in Boston, Massachusetts on 7 September 1856.
The Jones family’s travel to Utah in 1861 is confirmed by the birth of Ada Eugenia Jones en route on 30 July 1861, and also the obituary of Emily Mercy Jones. Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company with which they traveled to Utah.
