William sailed to America in 1864 on the ship General McClellan.    

He came to Utah in either 1864 or 1865.  The first documentation to place him in Utah is a child born January 1866 which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration.  Further research is needed to narrow the year of his travel.  His wife Annie and family came to Utah in 1863.
