William Roberts

William arrived in New York on 28 May 1855 via the ship William Stetson. He likely traveled to the Salt Lake Valley that same year, but the first documentation to place him in Utah is the 1860 Utah census where he appears with William K. Rice. This census was taken in June 1860, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration so the latest he could have come was in 1859. In 1866 he paid tithing at Bloomington, Bear Lake, Idaho.  His wife Jannet (Janette Jones) died 25 July 1878 at Bloomington.  In the 1880 Idaho census William appears with a new wife (Elizabeth) and four of his children from his first marriage.  His death date is from the Eastern Idaho Death Records database.  Further research is needed to identify the name of the company he traveled with and narrow the year of travel.
