William Van Orden Carbine
His family began their journey to the Valley in 1848 with the Brigham Young Company, but about half way across the plains William switched to the Heber C. Kimball Company. A little later in life, he crossed the plains at least two more times, in 1866 and 1868, as a teamster for out-and-back companies.
