William is in Orvel Allen's household in the 1850 Iowa census and the 1860 Utah census. It is assumed that he was one of the children traveling with the family at the time. It is not certain if he is a biological son of Orvel's or an adopted son as he is not listed as part of the family on Family Tree, and is the same age as another daughter.
