William Jackson Stewart
Census and genealogical records indicate that the Stewart family traveled to Utah in 1849. Further research needs to be done to determine which company they traveled with. The Stewart family included William Jackson Stewart, his wife Sarah Dickens Gentry, and their children Permelia Jane, Sarah Elizabeth, John, Uel, Esli, Malakiah, and William Jackson, Jr.
In 1853, he and his brother, Levi Stewart, crossed the plains again, this time leading a freight train of goods back to the Valley. At least one new emigrants was hired to drive teams in this freighting company.
At the end of a mission, William Jackson returned home with the John W. Berry Company in 1858.
