Australian Mission

Organized in 1851 as the Australian Mission.

Renamed Australasian Mission in 1854 when the boundaries expanded to include parts of Asia, New Zealand and Tasmania. This lasted about 44 years until it was renamed Australian Mission in 1898 when the New Zealand Mission was created.

In 1930 the mission boundaries were better defined as the mission was divided into six districts, one for each state. The district headquarters were located in each capital city (Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne and Perth).
